Iranian parliament wants death penalty for wrong kind of blogging

http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/node/4464

Online free speech has never been well received by the Iranian government, but now Tehran is just one step away from making blogging on certain topics into a capital crime. Under a new bill approved by Iran's parliament, those convicted of "establishing weblogs and sites promoting corruption, prostitution and apostasy" will now be eligible to receive the death penalty. The International… Continue

Notes Home

I just found out that the URL:s for your blogs in your memberprofiles don't work as hyperlinks. So a visitor must copy-paste the address to the browser addressbar if he wants to go there immediately and not everybody is prepared to do that. It is a question of hardwired coding in the Ning-system and there is little is to be done about it.

One obvious way to go around the problem would be to post an item to your Comment Wall where there is the link to your blog.

The other and highly… Continue

The beginning of the beginning

Atheist Bloggers is a place where you can tell others what you have have been doing lately and promote your blog as much as you like. Only time will tell if this catches on, as this is still the day 1 and nobody even knows this network even exists.

Why atheism? Why otherwise?

Why should one ba an atheist? Do you have deep knowledge about atheism such that you can wither the sophisticated, solecistic sophistry of William Lane Craig and Alvin Plantinga? Do the ignostic challege and Ockham's Razor  exert themselves in your evangel? Is your evangel- good news- optiistic? Do you wish there existed Sky Pappy or the Ground of Being? Do you find theologians to be comedians?   Or why do you fear atheism? Have you been tempted to free yourself of this religious superstition?…See More

God explains nothng. Alister Earl McGrath notwithstanding, He is a useless redundancy, for whom it't take convoluted, ad hoc matters to make Him pictorially meangingful, but He has no referents as the Grand Designer and Grand Miracle Monger…

God hates Vaginas

The religious hate the birth canal. There is something about genitals that they do not like. They especially hate the female genitalia. But why is this? Why is it that these religions hate the birth canal? This can be answered quite simply. They cannot stand the idea of women being liberated. They just want women to stay at home all day and cook and clean and pop out more babies. The mere word 'Feminism' makes these people cringe in fear. But I ask, why are these people so afraid? Why do they… Continue

Marxist-Leninism,and Trotskyism. What does it have to do with Atheism?

As an Atheist who believes in Marxist-Leninist and Trotskyist ideology, I can say that it is truly magnetizing to me as an Atheist. I can't get enough of it. It opposes the right-wing radicalism that we see in our culture. It literally rips everything away from society that is bad, and gives a simple, yet not so simple explanation for the problems society faces. I find everywhere I go that the less religious a person is, typically, the more far-left they are. Now, that is not to say that every… Continue

On Conservatives

Guess what? I'm not conservative. I used to be, and am beginning to understand now why I used to be. Conservatism (especially U.S. Republicanism) necessitates a belief in God; or something to solve the problem of free will being inconsistent with the causal laws of the universe. Conservatives have no beef with the idea that people's… Continue

On the Self

I've recently come upon some realizations that in all honesty are life changing. If you've read my previous notes, you'll know my stance on free will, the self etc.; that is, that I don't believe that they exist. On a macro level, everything has a cause, including our behavior. As free as we may feel, what we do is ultimately determined. We affect reality (we are it) and if something is true, then it is true, regardless of what point of time you are measuring it from. Consciousness, and…
