Iranian parliament wants death penalty for wrong kind of blogging

http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/node/4464

Online free speech has never been well received by the Iranian government, but now Tehran is just one step away from making blogging on certain topics into a capital crime. Under a new bill approved by Iran's parliament, those convicted of "establishing weblogs and sites promoting corruption, prostitution and apostasy" will now be eligible to receive the death penalty. The International Free… Continue

I just found out that the URL:s for your blogs in your memberprofiles don't work as hyperlinks. So a visitor must copy-paste the address to the browser addressbar if he wants to go there immediately and not everybody is prepared to do that. It is a question of hardwired coding in the Ning-system and there is little is to be done about it.
One obvious way to go around the problem would be to post an item to your Comment Wall where there is the link to your blog.
The other and highly rec… Continue

The beginning of the beginning

Atheist Bloggers is a place where you can tell others what you have have been doing lately and promote your blog as much as you like. Only time will tell if this catches on, as this is still the day 1 and nobody even knows this network even exists.

I repeat. I am looking for intellegent people to particiapte in a religious debate. If you are human, you will be converted to the church of Rome. Silence the voices you hear with the Holy Ghost. What are you afraid of?

What of the Roman churches are you referring to, Lynn? The big one in the center of Rome if course quite impressive!

The URL:s in profiles work finally!

The URL:s for your blogs in your memberprofiles work now as hyperlinks and there is no more need to post it to your profile as I have done before.

Atheist Day of Silence

This is not just a thought, it's a rally call.
Religions have holy days, days where the members must do, or not do, a thing, or things, to show their allegiance to their cause, which they call faith. Often these are called Faith Days. As atheists we do not have these opportunities to show our equally strong and valid No god viewpoint, or to likewise take time off work for that purpose.
I propose that we, the atheist community

Morality Instinct

What bothers me perhaps more than any other thing a theists might say to me is their claim that there is no good without god. That if there was no creator (and don't you just love it that today, when everyone is breaking their backs to remain as PC as can be, when in a debate or talking to the media, etc., the theist uses the pretty blanket term "creator" but what they really mean is their quite specific god e.g. Yahweh, Allah, etc.), there would be no morality.
I have never come a… Continue

It’s no secret that I have big love for the HBO series Big Love, which I discussed in my posts about Mormonism. The opening credits end with Bill, the husband, meeting each of his three wives in heav… Continue
