Hello my name is Noel Browne. I am a Christian. I am not here to spark controversy or conflict. I fully support every humans' right to free speech and freedom of religion or from religion.
The reason why I am on this site is because I am frustrated with the constant debates about religion and atheism. We all must agree that 90% of the time no matter who wins the debate both sides will leave holding to their beliefs; simply the losing side will regroup with new information.
The saying is quite relevant that “actions speak louder than words.” Therefore I have created a project where I will prove God through actions. Out of respect for this site I will not list the site here. I have created a Youtube video explaining the project.
What would be of more interest to you is that I have posted a challenge to non-believers to make a video declaring to the world their viewpoint. Simply it is asking for you to say your name followed by “I am greatness, and I do not believe in Christ.” This is not to cause controversy but to allow to world to see where everyone stands. Similarly Christians are challenged to make videos stating that through Christ who strengthens them, they are Greatness.
No offence, but i highly doubt you do have anything new to say or prove. I believe you are here in a good meanings, but you are not the first one who tries to probe god through actions. Seen them billions before, and for sure, i will see billions more after you are forgotten.
But since i do believe in your good intentions, i wish you all the luck. You are goin to need it.
While your tone is respectful, and that is always appreciated whether online or in person, your challenge is rather futile to me. I can easily say that I have a disbelief in Christianity, which includes Jesus, I don't see the purpose of stating, "I am greatness...". To me that's not a logical thing to say as I feel it's a display of extreme pride.
Pride, itself, is not something I feel is bad as pride is important to ones self-esteem and many success stories current and past would not be if not for pride in a creation or idea. That being said, excessive pride is annoying and harmful, at best. Saying "I am greatness" does not actually show off any endeavor for any particular purpose other than to be egotistical. Who am I greatness to? What am I greatness for? I can easily say I am greatness in regards to my child as I care for him, feed him, love him, etc. If I had a business and it became a huge success, I would be able to say I am greatness because of that. But to say I am greatness simply because I do not believe in the same god as you, and therefore feel superior?
No, you and I are both humans. I am not greater than you, nor you me. As you say "actions speak louder than words" and in this case it is our actions that speak greatness about us as an individual rather than any words. I could be an Atheist and commit crimes, while you might not. You could also be a Christian who could be a criminal, and I might not. We all gain our morality somewhere (that's for a different debate) and what you do with it, and how you treat others, is more indicative of greatness than an online video.
Unfortunately, I don't think you are in the best position to "prove God".
The best person to "prove God" is God. Therefore I think that greatness challenge before you is to convince God to do the Video proving himself/itself not powerless nonbelievers. I can guarantee you that the minute the God's video appears on youtube there would be no more controversy.
