Belgium's got regional (meaning Flemish / Walloon / Brussels) and European elections coming up june 7th, and the Flemish christian democrat party "CD&V" is probably going to confirm its position as Flanders' (and Belgium's) biggest party.
Belgium had quite a strong liberal-socialdemocrat coalition for several years, but these last few years populism and also conservatism has once again got a strong foothold.
It has created an atmosphere in which the roman catholic church dares speak its backward mind again.

Not alone do we have christian democrats that have been trying to sabotage progress in this country (sometimes succesful, sometimes not) - we even had a 'Muslim democratic party' a couple of years back. I am happy to say that these people seem to have left the political stage altogether.
Surely this is not what is intended when we speak of 'separation between state and religion'?
I think parties that refer in any way to any religious stance or dogma, principles, simply can not be tolerated in a nation with state/religion separation.

Now, I believe there are some quite reasonable and hard-working politicians in this christiandemocrat party of ours, but does anyone feel as I do do - that christiandemocracy is religion creeping into politics through the back door and should be prohibited in any country with a strict separation between religion and state?
